Big Ocean, the world's first K-pop group composed of members with hearing impairments, released their new digital single "Make it up to you" on May 19th.
Written as a direct message to the fans who couldn't meet when their 2026 European tour was unexpectedly cancelled, the song transforms distance and disappointment into something more welcoming: a promise and a countdown to reunion.
With "Make it up to you," the group channels the emotional weight of that missed encounter into a love letter—addressed not only to Europe, but to all the fans who have waited. Instead of letting that distance speak for itself, Big Ocean did what they do best: they transformed it into music.
On May 17th, Big Ocean turned that promise into reality with a private online concert, held exclusively for ticket holders of the 2026 European tour.
Streamed at 3 PM CEST, the closed-door show was conceived as a way to finally meet the fans who were left waiting after the tour was canceled — and the group took the opportunity to perform "Make it up to you" for the first time.
The surprise launch, held for the audience for whom the song was written, generated an emotional response from fans in all connected cities, two days before the official release of the single.
The single reunited Big Ocean with Grammy-winning producer Frankie Biggz, continuing the creative partnership that shaped the group's third mini-album, THE GREATEST BATTLE.
With roots in 70s disco-funk and modern city-pop, the track begins with a lyrical piano melody before expanding into a full live band sound, driven by rhythmic slap bass, syncopated guitar, and shimmering synthesizers.
Members Chanyeon, PJ, and Jiseok directly participated in writing the lyrics, and their personal touch is felt throughout the song.
The cities they couldn't reach are mentioned by name, with phrases in local languages inserted so that fans in each country hear their own corner of the world reflected in the song.
What could have been a missed connection becomes, in Big Ocean's hands, one of their most personal releases to date.
"We couldn't be there in person, but we never stopped thinking about you. This song is our way of saying — we're coming back, and we'll make it up to you," Big Ocean shared.
"Make it up to you" was released on May 19th on all major streaming platforms worldwide.
